That's a tongue twister!

4 x 4 Friday - "Stencils"

For this Friday's 4x4 challenge, I incorporated the stencil work with a checkered stenciled border on a bit of wallpaper that I had first washed with white acrylic then stamped with a small medallion stamp. The image of "Mary" is courtesy of Paper Flowers. Visit all the other 4x4 participants and see how they used stencils.

4 x 4 Friday - "Statues"

Another Friday, another 4x4. This week we are doing statues. I have been admiring some beautiful monochromatic work lately and tried one myself.

I am also hosting a pennant swap. There is plenty of time to join in--I haven't started mine yet! Find out more from this link and let me know if you want to play along.

4 x 4 Friday - Quotes

This quote just came to my attention a few days ago and I knew I wanted to use it. I'm glad this challenge came along before I forgot it!
Like all good quotes, there is so much truth to this one. Remember all that imagination you had as a child?

4 x 4 Friday - "Fish"

We were challenged at 4x4 Friday to create with fish this week. Well, not with fish, exactly....rather using fish. Not using actual scaly, stinky fish, but..... how did I get into this??

Anyway..........

The real challenge--I don't have a lot of fish in my repertoire. Maybe that's why it's called a challenge! Here is what I came up with:

The starfish is lighter and pinker--just couldn't get the light right.

Have a great weekend!

4 x 4 Friday - "Shoes"

Oh boy! Shoes! Yesterday I tried on at least 47 pair of shoes, or so it seemed, and then I made this 4x4, and had fun doing both!
See more 4x4 entries here.

4 x 4 Friday - "Numbers"

My contribution for 4 x 4 Friday - "Numbers"

TIME PASSES
Numbers......counting.....we are always counting something.
Time passes in years, weeks, days.
Time passes in hours, minutes, seconds.
We count them, but do we make them count?

"Teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

4 x 4 Friday - "Favorite Color"

The 4x4 prompt for this week was to use our favorite color. I just love color, period. Vivids, darks, lights, neutrals....color is just exciting. I choose color by mood, either the mood I'm in or the mood I'd like to be in. I've gone through phases of favorite colors: turquoise, orange, taupe (I love taupe) the old hunter/burgandy phase, and even the mauve/blue phase. But when push comes to shove, the one color I never stray far from is pink. I used it in my wedding. I even had daughters so I could use it freely. We once had a living room painted the palest, softest, most delicate shade of pink. It is the color of my blog header. Pink has never failed me.

What is your favorite color?

4 x 4 Friday - "Masks"

Drama Queen.......doesn't everybody know one?

This little mask was just the right size for my diva. By carefully cutting around her fingers with an x-acto, I was able to fit the mask in her hand, making it look like she has just pulled the mask away from her face.

4 x 4 Friday - "Vintage Brides"

Usually I start a piece with an image, a background, some portion of the whole, and build from there--often surprising myself with the finished product. However, this morning, this completed idea popped into my head immediately when I saw the theme for 4x4 Friday: "Vintage Brides". Knowing what I wanted to do and getting it done became another matter. You may think that the bride image is a transfer, but you would be mistaken. It seems me and transfers are not exactly 100%. Undaunted, I plowed ahead, tried another method, and viola! The image of the bride is printed on tissue paper! And I think it turned out great, if I do say so myself!!

4 x 4 Friday - "Florals"

My first 4x4 in a while! Today's theme is 'florals'--a fun one for me because I love flowers. Lately I have been experimenting with backgrounds using 4x4 cards. This particular one seemed made to go with the picture, even tho I only found the picture a couple of days ago.
Have a great weekend!

4 x 4 Friday - "Da Vinci Ladies"

4X4 Friday is Da Vinci Ladies (other than Mona Lisa). I chose Cecilia, otherwise know as "Lady with an Ermine".

See more ladies here.

I am hosting a swap! The theme is
Hats, Handbags, & Heels.

Please join us!!

4 x 4 Friday - "Fairies"

It's a magical day at 4 x 4 Friday! Our theme this week is "Fairies" or "Faeries" depending on where you are from. I used a watercolor backgound, a dragonfly stamp, some vellum, glitter, shells, beads and fringe.
I imagine this to be the Dragonfly Fairy.
I can't wait to see the rest of the lovely fairies
here.

4 x 4 Friday - "Pets"

The 4 x 4 challenge this week is pets. Due to technical difficulties I don't really want to discuss right now, I was unable to feature any of my own sweet pets on my 4 x 4. These little faces are representatives of my 2 sweet cats and 2 precious dogs. They are all rotten--spoiled by me!

Follow this link to see other 4 x 4's in this week's theme.

4 x 4 Friday - "Houses"

It is true, there is no place like home. But if we can't be there, Ronald McDonald House has done a good job taking care of our creature comforts and giving us a clean safe place to stay in this season of our lives. We have pleasant surroundings, inside and out. We are served wonderful meals prepared by dedicated volunteers. Everything we need is at our disposal.

The 4x4 Friday theme of Houses was a perfect one for me this week. Still at RMH, I used bits and pieces to make my 4x4. The card itself is actually a subscription card that you find tucked in magazines. The house is the logo from a RMH napkin. I chose a quilt for the background because the house we are staying in has many gorgeous quilts hanging in the hallways.

If you are a fan of challenges, join us for a new banner challenge

beginning on Feb. 20.

4 x 4 Friday - Open Theme

CHAIRS

I like chairs, so that is my theme. Actually, my theme started out as I-have-to-make-something-now. Still incarcerated staying at
Ronald McDonald House, I had to resort to whatever I had on hand. That included a pair of scissors, a glue stick, and a couple of old magazines. Come to think of it, that is much the way I started my first altered book over 5 years ago. Nothing fancy, just juxtaposing pleasing pictures and phrases, letting serendipity have her way.

Just to update..........

**Updated 1/18/08** Alan was dismissed to Ronald McDonald House today as we must stay close to the hospital since he will be closely monitored in frequent lab and clinic visits until at least the first of February.

My grandson is still in ICU, recovering from a liver transplant on Dec.30. He is struggling with pneumonia and some infection.

My husband and I are still at the hospital with Alan and his parents.

Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes in your comments.

I miss creating for the challenges--hope to be back soon, because that will mean Alan is better!

I will be here for Banner Month--I'm all set to post it on Wednesday. See you then! In the meantime, I'll be enjoying all of your beautiful creations! (Thank goodness for ICU wireless--great sanity-saver)
