Make a Moo (or Two)

Today's challenge at Make a Moo or Two was to create a moo using your favorite color.
I went with my all-time favorite: pink!
A moo, I have learned, is a little card 2.8 x 7 centimeters or approximately 1.1 x 2.8 inches. I have also learned the smaller the canvas the more challenging it is to create! And that is the beauty of a challenge--to try the new and different.

Spring Banner - Letter "P"

Spring Banner Week 2:

Mixed Media Monday - "School"

This week's Mixed Media Monday theme is "School".

I did this layout in an altered book using acrylics, ink, and some bits of hardware. Since I don't have any school related stamps, I relied on magazine clips, dictionary pages and computer images.

Other participants can be found here.

Art

What is art if not an outlet of emotion?
I put my frustrations on paper today.

Spring Banner - Letter "S"

Spring Banner Week 1:
the "S" pennant

The challenge is to incorporate sparkly
into your pennant.

I hope you have better luck getting the sparkle to show up in your photo. Speaking from experience, I know it is much prettier in person.

Should you need some inspiration, be sure and see the slide show of all the beautiful Dream banners we did in January.

I hope you don't miss Mr. Linky this time. Just leave your perma-link in the comments.

**The challenge for next week will be to incorporate one of these patterns into your "P" pennant: plaid, checkerboard or argyle.**

Tagged, and not the altered kind

I have been tagged--twice! Amy at Buffaloes and Butterfly Wings and Mary Lynn at The Art Escape both tagged me last week. Sorry I'm so far behind girls, but I'm catching up!

First, Amy's tag: a book meme.

This is how it goes: Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages). Open the book to page 123. Find the fifth sentence. Post the next three sentences. Tag five three people.

I am currently reading Written in Her Heart by Alan Maki. Ironically, the bookmark is on page 121. (And this quote has absolutely nothing to do with the story.)

"With little hesitation, Chummy darted forward and clutched the bread with his front claws. The squirrel sat on his haunches and nibbled away, five feet from James. Farther out, James saw Edgy moving in."

I tag:
Sam -
Family Blog with a Difference
Mary Lynn -
The Art Escape
Maresa - (you can post in my comments if you want) :)

Next, Mary Lynn's tag:

Here are the Rules: Post the rules on your blog, and then give your answers. List one fact about yourself for each letter in your middle name. Each fact must begin with a letter from your middle name. If you do not have a middle name, use your maiden name(or create a middle name).Once you are tagged, update your blog with your middle name and your answers. At the end of your post, tag one person for each letter of you middle name. Leave them a comment on their blog telling them that they have been tagged, and that they need to come read your blog for details.

My middle name is Lynn.

L - List maker

Y - Yearns for the country

N - Never bored

N- Nester

I tag:
Amy
Kristin
Sam
Maresa

I think that gets me caught up!

Mixed Media Monday - "Texture"

TEA PARTY
This is a great theme! I added lots of texture for the eye and to touch. Look closely to see the screen, the ribbon, the mulberry paper, and the dried leaves. And how can you miss the tea bag? This was a fun layout to do! And it was nice to be in an altered book again.
Follow this link to more Mixed Media Monday Texture pieces.

Just 2 days until we begin the
Spring Banner Challenge

Art Doll

I found a great new challenge site--Step Outside Your Box Saturday. The challenge for this week is Art Dolls. This is definitely outside my box! The doll was fun to create and I already have ideas for how I can use her in another project. I just may even be making more.

Mixed Media Monday

Someday I will be back! I miss playing along!
My grandson just got out of the hospital today after a 4-day stay for mild rejection.
His mother (my daughter) just got out another hospital today after a 3-day stay for some abdominal pain issues.
It has not been a good weekend for crafting. But I will we back!
Till then, the first Spring Banner challenge is posted in the sidebar.
(Help yourself to the icon, too)

Mixed Media Monday - "Swirls and Flourishes"

I got a "care package" of supplies from home this weekend. Just a few items chosen for me at random. But guess what was in it?? My swirl punch and some flourish stamps! I think I went a little overboard--but I just so excited!!

To see more swirls and flourishes, go here.

4 x 4 Friday - "Houses"

It is true, there is no place like home. But if we can't be there, Ronald McDonald House has done a good job taking care of our creature comforts and giving us a clean safe place to stay in this season of our lives. We have pleasant surroundings, inside and out. We are served wonderful meals prepared by dedicated volunteers. Everything we need is at our disposal.

The 4x4 Friday theme of Houses was a perfect one for me this week. Still at RMH, I used bits and pieces to make my 4x4. The card itself is actually a subscription card that you find tucked in magazines. The house is the logo from a RMH napkin. I chose a quilt for the background because the house we are staying in has many gorgeous quilts hanging in the hallways.

If you are a fan of challenges, join us for a new banner challenge

beginning on Feb. 20.
